U.S. F-35 fighter jet crashes in Nevada, pilot safe

LOS ANGELES, March 31 (Xinhua) -- A U.S. F-35 fighter jet crashed north of Las Vegas in the western U.S. state of Nevada on Tuesday, with the pilot ejecting safely, local media reported, citing military officials.

The incident occurred about 40 kilometers northeast of Indian Springs, within controlled airspace and the restricted federal property of the Nevada Test and Training Range, according to Nellis Air Force Base's media operations, as cited by local media KSNV News 3.

The pilot sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the scene.
